What is Airbrush Tanning?  Airbrush tanning gives you a beautiful natural-looking "California tan" without the long-term skin damage associated with UV exposure. If you’ve tried the Mystic Tan or booth spray tan, this tan is not the same! Where booth sprays can tend to leave streaks or blotches of colors, airbrush tanning does not. A micro-fine mist is evenly applied over the body by a certified Airbrush Tanning technician.

How does Airbrush Tanning work?  The FDA approved active ingredient, dihydroxyacetone (DHA), is derived from raw sugar cane and reacts with the proteins in the outermost layer of your skin to produce a golden brown color. DHA has been used safely over the years in numerous sunless tanning products. We use a premium quality solution that allows for a more natural color.

How long does the Airbrushing process take?  The entire process takes about 15 minutes.

What should I do to prepare for an Airbrush Tanning session? On the night prior to, or on the morning of your airbrush tanning session, exfoliate and shave. Use a non-oil based exfoliant. Lotions and make-up may act as a barrier to prevent the tanning solution from reaching and interacting with the skin. In general, the skin should be clean and free from applied products including: make-up, lotions, deodorants.

What should I wear to an airbrush tanning session? Wear loose fitting clothing to your tanning appointment. Allow 10 minutes drying time after your session before dressing.

How soon can I shower after an airbrush tan? At minimum, allow 8 hours after your tanning session before showering, swimming or heavy sweating. Ideally, the DHA application needs about 12 hours to reach its peak.

How do I maintain my airbrush tan? Apply moisturizer morning and evening after your first post-tan shower. Moisturize daily thereafter. Hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a longer lasting tan. Refrain from over the counter sunless tanners, exfoliating scrubs, and extremely hot baths.

How long will my tan last? Depending on a person's activities and skin type, the tan lasts approximately 5-7 days (up to 10 for some people). With follow up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinitely. Using a tanning extender (with DHA and Erythrulose) on the skin daily will help extend tanning results while keeping the tan looking healthy and glowing. A sunless tan is not a long term commitment, so it is great to try for the first time!

Can pregnant or nursing mothers get a airbrush tan?The concern some doctors have is over whether or not the active ingredient (DHA) is able to enter the blood stream; the indications are that it cannot. DHA only penetrates the outtermost layer of the skin. However, I do require you consult with your doctor and obtain consent prior to your first tanning session.
